Jason Cummings asked about potentially making Rangers loan permanent

Glasgow Rangers made Jason Cummings their third signing of the January window, with the striker arriving at Ibrox on loan.

Jason Cummings has told Rangers’ official website that he is excited about the potential idea of making his loan move to Ibrox permanent in the summer.

Cummings became the Gers’ third signing of the January transfer window, as he followed Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy by agreeing a loan deal until the end of the season.

The club have confirmed on their official website that Rangers have the option to buy the Nottingham Forest-owned striker at the end of the campaign, and Cummings hinted that he would undoubtedly be keen to make the switch to Rangers a permanent one at some stage in the future.

“Definitely. It’s such a massive club and it’s a privilege to be here,” he told the club’s official website when asked whether he was excited about the prospect of earning a permanent move.

“I am going to enjoy this six months and I can’t wait to get out there at Ibrox and wear the blue.”

If Cummings is capable of replicating the form that he showed during his time with Hibernian – though that may still be difficult given that his best spells at Easter Road came when Hibs were in the second tier – then Rangers will surely have no hesitation in making the deal permanent.

The 22-year-old was prolific in the seasons leading up to his move to the City Ground, and the Light Blues could certainly do with adding a player with that kind of strike-rate to their ranks.

Alfredo Morelos tops the division’s scoring charts this term, but none of his teammates are that close to him with Josh Windass the club’s second highest goalscorer with six league strikes to his name so adding Cummings on a temporary basis could prove an inspired move that makes signing him permanently further down the line seem a no-brainer.
