According to Sky Sports, Nottingham Forest would only allow striker Jason Cummings to leave the club on loan amid interest from Rangers.

Forest sacked manager Mark Warburton at the end of last month and have already replaced him with Aitor Karanka, with the Spaniard now assessing his squad at the City Ground.

Karanka will decide whether he wants to keep a number of players signed by Warburton, including striker Jason Cummings, who joined Forest from Hibernian over the summer.

The 22-year-old, who hit 69 goals in 150 games for Hibs, was a key signing for Warburton over the summer, but has started just seven Championship games this season.

Sky Sports now report that Cummings will weigh up his future under Karanka, and whilst he is happy at the City Ground, he could yet move on this month.

It’s claimed that Championship and League One clubs – as well as Scottish side Rangers – are keen on signing Cummings, and Forest would be open to a loan deal until the end of the season.

It seems that Cummings’ long-term future lies with Forest, but Rangers may still hope to bring him to Ibrox on a temporary basis until the end of the season if possible.

Graeme Murty has seen Eduardo Herrera struggle to support Alfredo Morelos this season, and taking Cummings back to Scotland until the end of the season – potentially opening the door for a permanent move – may be a good idea for the Gers.
