Jarrod Bowen is on fire in the Championship with Hull City once again.

Aston Villa have found some attacking form of late, but it still wouldn’t be a great surprise to see Dean Smith move for another winger in January.

Summer signings Jota and Trezeguet have yet to really show that they’re Premier League standard, whilst Anwar El Ghazi’s has continued his inconsistency.

Before the transfer deadline, Villa were expected to move for one more winger, with The Express reporting that a move for Brentford’s Said Benrahma looked likely.

That never happened, meaning Villa could move for another winger in January – but if it’s a Championship winger they’re looking at, Jarrod Bowen could be the one to go for.

Bowen, 22, scored yet again on Wednesday night, helping Hull claim a 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest, which was his seventh goal in all competitions this season.

The winger scored 22 times last season, and is continuing to show that he’s one of the Championship’s most dangerous attackers – all whilst proving Villa wrong.

Bowen’s father Sam told the Hull Daily Mail in 2017 that the winger did have trials with Villa when he was just 10, but Villa said he wouldn’t be good enough, missing the chance to sign him.

Bowen has now taken that rejection and made himself a star in the Championship, and if Dean Smith is looking for a wide man in January, he should be looking to correct the club’s error and sign Bowen.

He’s quick, he’s creative, he has a wand of a left foot and he’s deadly in front of goal. With Wesley not looking like the most prolific Premier League striker, adding goals from wide in Bowen could help take the pressure off the Brazilian.

It would cost a lot of money to lure him away from Hull – certainly given that Villa could have signed him up as a kid – but it’s imperative that Villa don’t miss out on him again, and they must look to add him in January.
