Tottenham Hotspur youngster Japhet Tanganga could be an important player for the club.

Japhet Tanganga and Troy Parrott are two promising Tottenham Hotspur youngsters who are hoping to make their debuts this evening.

Parrott can potentially be a star at Spurs, but Tanganga’s situation is more pressing.

Tanganga is a centre-back and this is a position where Tottenham will be forced into decisions over the next few months.

The futures of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are up in the air due to their expiring contracts.

It would be great if Tanganga can show that he could be a potential solution and start putting pressure on to make first team appearances.

At 20-years-old, Tanganga is at an age where he needs to take a step forward. His situation is far more pressing than Parrott.

Parrott, at 17, has plenty of time ahead to reach the first team. He is way ahead of schedule.

Harry Kane is not going anywhere, and while it would be great for Tottenham to have an effective back-up, Parrott will fulfil that role inevitably. There should be no rush, nor panic, if it does not all click against Colchester this evening.

In a perfect world for Tottenham, both Parrott and Tanganga will get their opportunities to shine and seize them.

Tanganga can have a more palpable influence on Tottenham’s decision making going forward if he succeeds.
