Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj has been described as a young Mesut Ozil – now of Arsenal, by Federico Macheda.
Federico Macheda confirmed last night he would be looking for another loan deal this week, and aiming to seal a permanent transfer in January away from Manchester United.
Given that he has disappeared from the first team radar, that in itself is of little surprise – but few United fans would not wish the Italian well in finding future success.
He will be forever remembered as the striker who helped United win the 2008/09 title, with winning goals against Aston Villa and Sunderland at a crucial phase in the season.
Nowadays there is a new kid on the block, much-celebrated teenager Adnan Januzaj.
In his interview with Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, Macheda was quizzed on Januzaj – able to provide perhaps a unique insight into the challenges he would be facing.
In style, Macheda chose to compare Januzaj to Mesut Ozil, who faced off against United yesterday.
He said: “He’s so strong, very strong. He looks like a young Ozil, is impressive, already makes a difference.
“He’s very young, it is important to be calm and play games. If you do not play it will be a bit difficult. He can become a champion.”
Januzaj was tipped last week by United boss David Moyes to become a future number 10 at the club. It could be that Macheda’s comparison to Ozil is not far off eventually.
