Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty moved to Ibrox from Hamilton in January.

Rangers January signing Greg Docherty has told football website The Boot Room that he could remain at Ibrox for the rest of his career after joining the club in January from Hamitlon.
The 21-year-old playmaker was Graeme Murty’s second permanent signing of the January transfer window, after securing loanee Declan John on a permanent basis, following an excellent first half to the 2017-18 season.
Docherty made his Rangers debut during the 2-1 win at Ross County, coming off the bench to play 16 minutes. He did the same in the 2-1 loss against Hibernian, before managing only four minutes last time out as Rangers beat Partick 2-0.
The three-time Scotland Under-21 international believes he could remain at Ibrox, as he is a boyhood fan of the club, and described fans’ reception on his debut as “special”.
“You never know,” Docherty said on his future. “If that was to be the case then I wouldn’t be disheartened by that at all,” Docherty said. “If I was to stay here for the rest of my career then that would be brilliant but you never know in football and you want to play at the highest level possible.
“It was special. The reaction I got from the crowd was great – it was an incredible following considering the distance from Glasgow – and even when I was warming up the whole stand and a half that Rangers had been allocated were clapping and saying my name.
“It’s something I have dreamt of for a long time and for that to actually happen was incredible.”

Docherty could be in line to make his first start for the Gers on Sunday afternoon as Murty takes his Rangers side to Somerset Park to face Scottish League One side Ayr United in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
His full debut has yet to arrive due to the competition in the middle of the park in Jason Holt and Sean Goss’ impressive partnership, but he could get his chance on Sunday as he looks to impress before Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans and Jordan Rossiter return.
