Jansson shares conversation with Christiansen about Leeds captaincy

Pontus Jansson is one of the best players at Leeds united.

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has revealed to The Yorkshire Evening Post that he has spoken to head coach Thomas Christiansen about the captaincy.

Jansson is hugely popular among the Leeds fans and is a leader at the back for the team.

The Sweden international central defender is highly experienced and is a very mature footballer.

The 26-year-old former Malmo FF star, though, is not the skipper at the moment. Fellow defender Liam Cooper is wearing the captain’s armband.

Jansson has revealed that he has held talks with new head coach Christiansen over the captaincy of the team.

“I have talked to him a couple of times about it,” Jansson told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Like I said to him and I can say it now, I don’t need the thing on my arm to be a captain, I can be a captain without it also.

“I would not change myself because I am a captain, I would play in the same way anyway. So for me it’s not so important to be honest.”

Jansson is one of the best players in the Leeds team and is one of the best centre-backs in the Championship.

The Swede loves the club and has shown enough passion to get the fans firmly behind them, and many Leeds supporters would love to see Jansson wear the captain’s armband regularly.

However, at the end of the day, what matters more than anything else is the Whites winning football matches and getting promoted back to the Premier League.
