Leeds have announced a new badge to mark the team’s centenary in 2019, after the club were founded way back in 1919 after first being called Leeds City. However, reaction to the change in emblem has been ridiculed by fans.
Andrea Radrizzani’s decision as owner of the club to change the badge was announced on Leeds’ official Twitter account, with the club claiming it had taken six months of research as well as stating they had consulted 10,000 people.
Defender Jansson, who first began his career with Swedish side Malmo before moving to Serie A outfit Torino and then Leeds, reacted to a Malmo fan’s tweet on the new badge – tweeting “Chocktillståndet” which is translated as “shock condition”.
The new badge has drawn huge criticism from all sections of the footballing world, with the badge expected to be on Leeds shirts next time out against Hull City on January 30.
Leeds are not in action this weekend after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two Newport County, and instead have travelled to Spain in order to boost their chances of getting back to form.
Now winless in five games in all competitions, pressure is mounting on Thomas Christiansen to turn around the Whites’ form and see them propel back into the promotion places. They currently sit in tenth place.
