Vincent Janssen has shared how he wanted to join Tottenham Hotspur over any other club.
Vincent Janssen has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since his move to Spurs in the summer, but he didn’t expect to be involved in every game when he joined the club, after sharing what Mauricio Pochettino told him before he made the switch to White Hart Lane, as quoted by Dutch media outlet Helden.
The 22-year-old has scored just three goals for Tottenham so far this season, with all of those strikes coming from the penalty spot.

He has also failed to grasp the opportunity given to him during the absence of Harry Kane through injury, with his poor form leading to Pochettino sometimes opting to use Son Heung-min as an auxiliary centre-forward instead.
The Dutchman sat down for an interview with Helden, and explained how an extensive chat with the Tottenham boss before he moved to the club convinced him to join the north London outfit:
“I spent a day with my agents visiting London. We had a tour through the wonderful training ground and spoke extensively with manager Mauricio Pochettino. He said honestly: ‘We have Harry Kane but we can sometimes use someone behind him and furthermore we play Champions League, we play so many games that we want an extra striker and you are exactly the type we’re looking for.’ After that visit I knew I wanted to play for that club, and I was given the number nine which also gave me extra confidence.”

Much was expected of Janssen when he made the move to London from AZ Alkmaar in the summer, after a stellar season for the Eredivisie side last term that saw him score 27 goals in 34 league outings.
The first season in the Premier League is always a tough one for foreign imports, and the Tottenham hierarchy and management team will be hoping that he continues to acclimatise and adapt to life in England, and that he will prove himself to be a success for Spurs.
