Jannik Sinner has addressed whether he will play in the 2025 Davis Cup, after helping Italy win the tournament two years in a row.

After pulling out of the Shanghai Masters, Sinner has only played one match since, taking part in the Six Kings Slam event.

Sinner is scheduled to play Daniel Altmaier in the opening round of the Vienna Open, an ATP 500 event.

And before making his return to regular competition, he spoke about his plans for this year’s Davis Cup.

Sinner will not be part of the Italy team for the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, set to start on November 18.

The Italian had been a part of the squad for the past two years, helping them win back-to-back titles. This year, though, his season will wrap up with the ATP Tour Finals instead.

Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobolli, Matteo Berrettini, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori have all been selected as Italy aim to defend their title.

Italy will face Spain, Belgium, Argentina, France, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria in the Finals.

Sinner’s remaining schedule this year consists of the Vienna Open, Paris Masters and ATP Finals.

Carlos Alcaraz handed chance to get his first Davis Cup win

While Sinner will be sitting this one out, Carlos Alcaraz is set to take part for Spain.

The world number one has yet to add a Davis Cup title to his CV, and this might be his best opportunity yet with Sinner not in the mix.

Spain face a tricky quarter-final against a Czech side led by Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik, but with Sinner missing, the path looks more open if they can get past that hurdle.

The two sides were expected to meet in the final of the tournament on November 23.
