The Tottenham Hotspur defender remains an integral player for them.

Jan Vertonghen’s agent has spoken exclusively to TMW about the player’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, and it is good news for Spurs fans.
The Belgian international has formed a superb partnership with his countryman Toby Alderweireld at White Hart Lane and it seems he is looking forward to continuing that centre-back pairing for some time to come.
Speaking to Italian website TMW, agent Tom de Mul said, “He is happy in London. He’s playing this season as a top player and he is certainly happy.
“Chances of staying? Ninety-nine per cent.”
That is an emphatic statement if ever there was one, and considering the fact Vertonghen has featured 40 times so far this season, playing a vital role in Tottenham’s admirable if unsuccessful title challenge, there is little doubt he will be kept for some time to come.
While many of Tottenham’s players have put pen to paper on new long-term contract, the 30-year-old is heading into the last two years of his own.

He still has a lot to offer, and it will be interesting to see if he is the next player to sign a deal, following in the footsteps of the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
He may not generate the headlines at Tottenham, but Vertonghen is a key player and an unsung hero.
