Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has welcomed new signing Victor Wanyama.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama – and he’s been welcomed to the club by defender Jan Vertonghen.
Spurs made their first signing of the summer on Thursday evening by bringing in midfielder Wanyama, who has starred for Southampton ever since his 2013 move from Celtic.
The Kenyan international, 24, was signed by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino back in 2013, and he’s been a mainstay for Southampton ever since with almost 100 Premier League appearances to his name.
With great power and physicality, Wanyama is seen as the ideal competition for Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in defensive midfield, and represents great value for money, given that Tottenham paid just £11m for his signature according to The Guardian.
After Wanyama’s signature was confirmed, Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen took to Twitter in order to send a message to his new team-mate.
Vertonghen, currently away in France with the Belgium squad at Euro 2016, offered a welcome message to Wanyama as they prepare to play together next season – and Wanyama has essentially been brought into offer protection to Vertonghen in defence.
Vertonghen’s defensive partner Toby Alderweireld will certainly be happy with the deal, as he played alongside Wanyama at Southampton – and even praised the player in an interview with the London Evening Standard last season.
All things considered, this looks to be a superb deal for Spurs – and the Tottenham defenders, including Vertonghen, should be delighted with the latest additions.
