Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen believes Romelu Lukaku’s move to Man United will be “special”.

Speaking to The Mirror, Jan Vertonghen believes Romelu Lukaku will suit Manchester United.

The Belgium hitman sealed a £75 million switch to Old Trafford from Everton this summer.

Lukaku has played with the Tottenham Hotspur man at international level for the past few years.

And the 30-year-old raves about the United new boy, claiming to The Mirror that his move to the Red Devils is “special”.

“It’s going to be special. I can call Romelu a friend. He’s a good guy, we’ve got a very good relationship and above all he is a good player.

“I think he suits MUFC – obviously they’re strong defensively. You saw his goal yesterday against Man City and that’s his way – balls in behind.”

Tottenham could do with another special striker up front themselves.

Of course, they have Harry Kane, who hit 29 Premier League goals last season, but beyond that there is no competition for the 23-year-old.

Vincent Janssen joined last summer but two goals from open play in 38 appearances might suggest that Spurs are in the market for a better back-up option to Kane.
