Jan Vertonghen in action against John Eustace
Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has told the club’s official Twitter page that his personal target this campaign is to concede fewer goals than last season.
Spurs conceded just 35 goals in 38 Premier League matches during the 2015-16 campaign.
The centre-back partnership of Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld was arguably the best in the English top flight last season.
Vertonghen has stated that his personal ambition this season is to conceded fewer goals than during the 2015-16 campaign.

“We just want to do better defensive-wise than last season,” said Vertonghen on Tottenham’s official Twitter page when asked about his personal target this season.
“That’s the thing we are looking forward to the most. We want to concede less goals than last season. That’s what we are going for, and that’s my personal achievement as well.”
Vertonghen has been linked with a move away from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Italian club Inter Milan have offered midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in exchange for the Belgium international (click here to read more).
However, according to the 29-year-old’s aforementioned comments, it seems that he will remain at White Hart Lane this season.
