Tottenham Hotspur have a very exciting young defender in their ranks.

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Jan Vertonghen has been speaking to ESPN about his young teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The 18-year-old made his Spurs debut against Gillingham in the EFL Cup last week and he was unlucky not to get on the score in what was a very impressive performance.
The teenager has been making waves at academy level for Tottenham for quite some time and big things have been expected of him from those who keep a close eye at youth and under-21 level.

With Kevin Wimmer seemingly slipping down the pecking order, Carter-Vickers is now Tottenham’s third-choice out-and-out centre-back and that shows just what a talent he is.
Speaking to ESPN after the match against Gillingham, Vertonghen said. “He’s still young but he’s an absolute beast. He’s a real defender. He’s strong one-on-one, in the air, he’s not afraid and he can play from the back.”

Going on to hail the progress Carter-Vickers has made in the last few months, it is clear the Belgium international rates his young teammate very highly.
The same can be said of Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and the club’s fans can expect to see much more of the young American between now and the end of the campaign.
