Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Ryan Mason to the caretaker manager role for the remainder of the season.
Spurs had initially given Cristian Stellini the role after parting company with Antonio Conte in March.
However, Conte’s former assistant struggled in the role, prompting Tottenham to relieve him of his duties.

Now, Mason takes the reins for the second time in his coaching career.
The 31-year-old previously managed Tottenham on a caretaker basis after Jose Mourinho’s departure in 2021.
In wake of the news, Mason took to Instagram with a bold, heartfelt message for all those connected with Spurs.
“It’s a privilege to manage this great football club,” he began. “I’m ready for the challenge and know what it means to represent the club.
I’ve never taken for granted the connection I have with our incredible fans and will work relentlessly with the players and staff to ensure that as a collective we fight for the badge at all times.
“Time to prepare and focus all of our energy into Thursday’s game. COYS”.
Plenty of fans and peers, including Andros Townsend, Jan Vertonghen and Kate Kane, wished Mason well.

Our view
It hasn’t been a good season for Tottenham, particularly when you consider how high the expectations were last summer.
Spurs had Antonio Conte, one of the best managers in the world, at the helm. They had also bolstered their ranks significantly.
However, Tottenham and Conte ended up being a poor match, and the decision to make Stellini caretaker didn’t work out either.

Now, Spurs are back with Mason, who gave a good account of himself when Mourinho was sacked two years ago.
Mason is loved at Tottenham, and he’s a fan favourite too. Aside from being a talented coach, he gets the club.
Spurs now face an uphill climb to qualify for the Champions League. Hopefully Mason can get them over the line.
