The Liverpool legend offered high words of praise for the Tottenham Hotspur ace.
Denmark and Liverpool legend Jan Molby spoke exclusively to Spurs’ official club website, and raved about Christian Eriksen, labelling the 25-year-old as a ‘unique’ footballer.
The Dane has been in fine form for Tottenham this season, scoring five goals and registering six assists in 22 Premier League outings thus far.
He joined the Lilywhites from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £11.8 million, and has turned out to be nothing less than a resounding success in north London.
He has scored 48 goals and chalked up 64 assists in 206 games for Spurs, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most creative threats in the process.
Molby spoke exclusively to TottenhamHotspur.com, and lavished praise upon his countryman, highlighting the Spurs man’s burning desire to be the best as something that sets him apart from the rest:
“His decision making is even better, he’s even more decisive. You go from when you start in the game to having five options on the ball, then four, three and the better you become, you just see one – which is the right one. That’s what the great players do, they don’t mess around, they don’t get caught in possession. How often does Christian get caught out like that? He just doesn’t get caught out. It’s all coming together and there is a burning desire to be the best and he goes about it in his own way. That’s what sets him apart – he’s a unique footballer.”
Next up for Tottenham is a home game against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, and they will need Eriksen to be at his very best, if they are to take maximum points from Sam Allardyce’s dogged side.
