Everton confirmed the signing Cuco Martina on a three-year deal today.

The 27-year-old defender joins Everton after being released from Southampton, where he worked under now-Toffees boss Ronald Koeman for two years.

The Netherlands-born right-back is the 10th player to arrive at Goodison Park under Koeman this summer, following the likes of Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez, Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney to Merseyside.

And Jan Kluitenberg, Everton’s first-team fitness coach, has sent messages on Twitter to Pickford, Sandro and Martina following their moves.

Koeman has splurged in excess of £100 million on transfer this summer and Everton should most definitely challenge for Champions League qualification.

In fact, anything less and the former Southampton man might do well to keep his job next summer, given their outlay in this window.
