Southampton do not worry about facing Liverpool, Chelsea or Wolverhampton Wanderers, says Jan Bednarek.

Southampton central defender Jan Bednarek has told The Guardian that he is not scared of playing against Chelsea, Liverpool or Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 23-year-old central defender has said that under manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, the Southampton players are not scared to face any team, even the best ones in the Premier League, such as Chelsea and Liverpool.

Bednarek told The Guardian: “We are not scared of anyone with this manager. The vibe here is very good.

“Because we press high, it doesn’t matter if it’s Chelsea, Liverpool or Wolverhampton, we try to do the same things with the same attitude and the same energy. I think the bravery of this coach is much bigger.”

Positive mindset

Southampton are a rejuvenated team under manager Hasenhuttl, and the Saints are going places.

True, it is not going to be easy to break into the top six of the Premier League anytime soon, but Southampton are certainly good enough to end up between seventh and 10th.

Hasenhuttl has been a very positive influence at St. Mary’s Stadium since his appointment as the Southampton manager in December 2018.

Interestingly, Southampton have already played against Liverpool this season, narrowly losing 2-1 at home in August.

The Saints also played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at St. Mary’s Stadium in August.

With the strong attitude that Southampton have now, the only way for the team is up.
