Northern Ireland’s Jamie Ward in action with Ukraine’s Vyacheslav Shevchuk
Nottingham Forest attacker Jamie Ward has been speaking about his return to the club from his loan spell at Burton Albion.
The Northern Ireland winger has returned to the City Ground after spending the first half of the season on loan with the Brewers.
The 30-year-old was not in the plans of Philippe Montanier, but Garry Brazil decided to bring him back and threw him straight back into the Forest starting XI.
He was gutted to leave Burton but admitted his priority has to lie with securing Forest’s Championship safety.
Burton’s Jamie Ward scores their second goal
He told the official Nottingham Forest website:
“The most important thing is staying up rather than Burton Albion as I am contracted here. I do wish Burton all the best but the most important thing is this club staying up and getting away from the relegation zone.
“I had a session yesterday and that was it. I felt I was perhaps a little bit too over-pumped at the start and wanted to do too well then I settled down into the game and hopefully played better than I did at the start.”
Ward put in a typically hard working performance after being brought back into the fray and many a Forest fan is likely wondering why Montanier decided to loan out Ward to their local rivals considering what he can give to the first-team at the City Ground.
Now he is back at the club Forest fans will know he will give everything to the cause as they start to fight for a rise up the Championship table.
Ward will hope to prove the former boss wrong for letting him go in the first place.
