According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers wanted to sign Walker from Scottish Premiership rivals Heart of Midlothian in the summer of 2017.
Rangers reportedly made three bids, the highest being £600,000, but Hearts turned all of them down.
Walker eventually left Hearts for Wigan Athletic in England in January 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £300,000, but the 26-year-old winger is back at the Scottish Premiership club, having signed a contract with Craig Levein’s side this summer.
Walker has reflected on the time when Rangers wanted to sign him, and has given his take on the failed transfer.
Walker told The Scottish Sun: “I don’t have regrets about the departure, just the whole Rangers thing. That turned into a bit of a mess.
“It was tough and I think maybe the club and myself didn’t deal with that in the best way.
“There was a perception from people on the outside, because of the Rangers situation, that Craig Levein and I didn’t get on. That wasn’t the case.”

Title challenge
Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership table last season and will be aiming to challenge bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic for the league title next season.
The Hoops will be favourites for the championship, but the Gers can certainly give them a run for their money.
