Jamie Vardy has named the England player who has the ability to be a ‘matchwinner’ at the World Cup this summer.
England’s campaign begins on Wednesday night against Croatia, a side they are well-versed in playing against at major tournaments.
All eyes will be on Thomas Tuchel’s selection for the game in Texas, and Vardy thinks there is one surprise name who could be the difference maker for the Three Lions.

Jamie Vardy names Eberechi Eze as England’s ‘matchwinner’
Vardy was joined by former England goalkeeper David James on the second episode of his podcast, ‘Jamie Vardy’s having a party‘, where the two created a combined XI for the Croatia fixture.
One of the biggest surprises in their team was to put Eberechi Eze alongside Declan Rice in the midfield, citing their connection at club level as a reason to select him over Elliot Anderson.
Discussing Eze’s inclusion, the Leicester City legend said that he thinks the 27-year-old could be the key to victory.
He said: “He’s a matchwinner. He’ll pull something crazy out of the bag and it’s in the top bin so I don’t think you can take things for granted.”

Eze says he will take a penalty for England if he needs to
The chances are that Tuchel will favour the duo of Rice and Anderson in midfield but Eze will no doubt have a part to play.
Penalties may require him to step up and he has stated that he will have no problem in taking one, despite missing from 12 yards in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
“All the big players have missed big penalties, have experienced these type of moments,” he said.
“I’ve had messages from everyone to speak on those moments. For me it’s not something I wish never happened. I’m grateful it happened. I’m going to grow from it, learn from it and move forward.
“If called upon, for sure. Why wouldn’t I take it?”
