Jamie Vardy has told of how Sam Allardyce could’ve signed him for West Ham in 2012.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has told the Daily Mail that Sam Allardyce wanted to sign him at West Ham United back in 2012.
Vardy, 29, is in the England squad to take on Slovakia this evening, and will be hoping to play his part in erasing the demons from the frankly embarrassing Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland.

Having hit 24 goals to fire Leicester to the Premier League title last season, Vardy will be looking to build on those exploits this term, and prove to new England manager Sam Allardyce that he should be a first-choice for the Three Lions.
Vardy has already trained for Allardyce, and he’s now shared a fascinating story told to him by the former Sunderland boss ahead of his first game in the job.

The pacey forward has told the Daily Mail that he spoke to Allardyce when he first linked up with the England squad earlier this week, and says that ‘Big Sam’ wanted to sign him at West Ham United in 2012 having been urged to strike a deal for the striker by then-Fleetwood manager Micky Mellon.
“When I first arrived for the squad, the manager told me a little story of when I was at Fleetwood and their manager was trying to get him to sign me at West Ham,” said Vardy.

Vardy made his name with Fleetwood having smashed 34 goals in 42 games during his only season with the club, and it was Leicester who won the race for his signature back in 2012.
That summer, West Ham signed two other strikers instead – Modibo Maiga and Andy Carroll. The latter has proven his quality when fit, but Maiga was a huge flop at Upton Park, and Hammers fans may have actually preferred to see West Ham take a punt on Vardy instead.
