Jamie Shackleton has stated on Instagram that he is hoping his injury is ‘not too serious’ following Leeds United’s 1-0 win over West Brom on Tuesday night.

At half-time, like Marcelo Bielsa likes to do and has done for a while, he substituted one of his players, with Shackleton being the one making way for Tyler Roberts.

Whilst it may have seemed like a typical Bielsa substitution at the time, it does now make sense that Shackleton’s status of being injured may have contributed in his decision to take him off.

After Leeds moved back to the top of the Championship table, Shackleton sent this message to the supporters via his personal Instagram account:

Shackleton has been earning some much-deserved game time in recent weeks, but injuries to his more senior teammates has also played a part in him being on the pitch.

When he has been given a chance by Bielsa, the youngster hasn’t disappointed, as he will be hoping to add more minutes under his belt as the season progresses.

The win against Albion was much-needed for Leeds because, in recent games, they have shown an incapability to hold onto a lead.

But against Slaven Bilic’s side, who went into the game unbeaten, they well and truly proved their worth, especially from a defensive standpoint.
