Well, it’s finally official that Newcastle United have signed Bruno Guimaraes.

Speculation has been rife for a few days that Newcastle were on the verge of signing the Brazil international.

However, earlier in the week Lyon moved to spoil the celebrations by announcing that no agreement had been reached, despite widespread reports.

But since Thursday it has seemed a foregone conclusion that Bruno would be joining the Magpies.

The Ligue 1 outfit announced the agreement at the same time as Newcastle, with the total fee being £41 million – making him the most expensive January signing in the history of French football.

Here’s how Jamie Reuben – son of co-owner David Reuben – reacted to the transfer on Twitter:

Even better, the transfers might not be stopping for Newcastle.

Eddie Howe’s side, who are 18th in the Premier League standings, have now brought three players to St James’s Park this month.

However, more is perhaps needed to ensure the Magpies avoid relegation.

A centre-back remains high on Howe’s list of priorities and it has been reported that a £13 million agreement has been reached for Dan Burn, the towering centre-back at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Having said that, no matter what Newcastle do over the next 48 hours, nothing will top the addition of Bruno.
