Will Everton manager Marco Silva reunite with Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure at Goodison Park?
Jamie Redknapp previously admitted that he would have hated playing against Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure who is attracting interest from Everton.
French outlet L’Equipe have claimed that Everton have seen an offer of £27 million rejected for Doucoure’s services, who worked under Marco Silva’s stewardship when he was Hornets manager.
The Toffees are perhaps in need of more legs in the middle of the park after losing Idrissa Gueye to Paris Saint-Germain, but they have re-signed Andre Gomes, brought Fabian Delph to the club and secured the signature of the versatile Jean Philippe Gbamin.
Last season, after yet another brilliant display for Watford, Doucoure was being touted for a move away from the club and Redknapp shared nothing but praise for the player as he described him as ‘the most under-rated midfielder in the Premier League’.
“Abdoulaye Doucoure is the most under-rated midfielder in the Premier League,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail. “He is the sort of player I would hate to play against. He is like a marathon runner the way he covers so much ground.
“He scores vital goals, has an eye for a pass and does not shy away from a tackle.”
The signing of Doucoure would be a brilliant capture by Everton and he would bring the added quality that Silva needs in his quest to reach Europe.
Whilst the current midfield signings can help fill the void left by Gueye, Watford’s man in the middle is proven in the Premier League and proven under Silva.
