West Ham United could become the first team to win or score at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium on Saturday.
Jamie Redknapp has warned Tottenham Hotspur that their clash against West Ham United on Saturday won’t be easy as he pointed towards their strong record at White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who are still looking to secure their top-four status, beat relegation-threatened Brighton on Tuesday evening, with Christian Eriksen netting an 89th-minute winner.
They will now turn their attention to the weekend and the visit of Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham, who could potentially become the first team to score and win at their new stadium.
Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League after Spurs’ clash against Brighton (23/04/2019 at 10:10 pm), Redknapp spoke about the ‘important’ all London tie at the weekend.
“I’ve said it before, the West Ham game is such an important one because it is a derby game, I played in it,” Redknapp told Sky Sports PL.
“It means so much to the Spurs fans, but West Ham have come to Spurs and had good results previously, so it won’t be an easy one. And the Spurs players will have their minds on Champions League, which is the next game after that.”
The one thing Spurs will have on their mind is their Champions League semi-final clash against Ajax which takes place after their meeting with the Hammers.
It remains to be seen if Mauricio Pochettino opts to rest any players for that showdown because doing so would be a huge risk against a team full of attacking talent and nothing to play for as the season is drawing to a close.
The Irons have produced mixed results in recent weeks, but there is no doubt that their players will be up for this clash, but it may be one that will suit Spurs because it’ll be more open.
