Jamie Redknapp has hailed midfielders Dele Alli and Paul Pogba.
Pundit Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he thought both Dele Alli and Paul Pogba were ‘simply sensational’ on Sunday – and can’t wait for the pair to go head to head later this season.
Tottenham kicked off their season with a trip to take on newly-promoted Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, and whilst some felt that Spurs hadn’t improved over the summer having failed to make any new signings, but they quashed fears with a 2-0 win at Newcastle.

Jonjo Shelvey’s red card gave Spurs a real boost as the midfielder was given his marching orders for a stamp on Dele Alli, and it was Alli who then opened the scoring for Tottenham by converting Christian Eriksen’s cross.
Eriksen then set up Ben Davies to make it 2-0, giving Spurs a comfortable away win and a clean sheet as Mauricio Pochettino’s men got off to the ideal start after a summer full of question marks.
Later on Sunday afternoon, Manchester United played host to West Ham United, and Jose Mourinho’s men were irresistible in a thumping 4-0 victory at Old Trafford, with big-money summer signing Romelu Lukaku bagging the first two goals.
Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba got on the scoresheet late on to seal a convincing win, with both Spurs and United getting off to ominous starts to the season as they both pursue the Premier League title.
The two sides were driven forward by star midfielders, as Alli and Pogba respectively stole the headlines from their games, with impressive displays capped off with a goal each.

After the game, pundit Jamie Redknapp told the Daily Mail that he felt both players were ‘simply sensational’ on Sunday afternoon, and will be battling for the title of being the Premier League’s top midfielder, with Redknapp eager to see them go head to head when Tottenham face Manchester United in October.
“Paul Pogba and Dele Alli were simply sensational on Sunday,” said Redknapp. “These two will be battling out to be the Premier League’s top midfielder. Dele, who scored 18 league goals last season, picked up where he left off with a fine finish at Newcastle.”
“While Dele eclipsed Pogba last year, the Frenchman showed just how good he can be against West Ham. I can’t wait for these two to go head to head at Old Trafford in October,” he added.
