Jamie Redknapp has told the Pitch to Post podcast that Dani Ceballos does not look the same player that he did last season.
Ceballos impressed towards the back end of last term, as he established himself as a key player in Arsenal’s line-up.
The Spaniard’s partnership in midfield with Granit Xhaka looked to be hugely effective, as Arsenal won the FA Cup.
However, Ceballos hasn’t quite shown the same type of form this time around.
And Redknapp said: “Ceballos last year, I thought he looked excellent in the FA Cup final. But he’s come back not quite the same player.
“I don’t know if that’s the frustration of being on loan again and not being loved. No player likes to keep being loaned out. You want a home.”
Ceballos was brought back to Arsenal to try and ensure that they had creativity in their midfield, but he hasn’t been able to do that so far.
Arsenal have badly struggled going forward, with their strikers often starved of chances.
Despite not being on top of his game, Ceballos may well be backed to start in Arsenal’s next game, which comes against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
