Pundit Jamie Redknapp has praised Tottenham Hotspur ace Pedro Porro following Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Newcastle United.
Tottenham Hotspur are back to winning ways having beaten Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
Destiny Udogie opened the scoring before Richarlison added a brace, scoring either side of half-time.
Son Heung-min added number four from the penalty spot with Newcastle’s consolation unable to take the shine off Tottenham’s win.
Jamie Redknapp hails Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro
This was a big win for Spurs, who had gone five games without a win before coasting past Newcastle.
One key moment took the game away from Newcastle as right back Pedro Porro set up Richarlison to make it 3-0 after half-time.
Porro played an inch-perfect pass in behind the Newcastle defence, picking out Richarlison to find the net.
Pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp moved to praise Porro following the final whistle having been impressed with his display.
Redknapp told Sky Sports that he didn’t think Porro had it in him to play as a right back in a four-man defence.
Spurs struck a £44million package deal for Porro, initially taking him on loan after shining as a wing back for Sporting.

Porro struggled in a back four in a 6-1 defeat at Newcastle United, leaving Redknapp to feel that it was ‘impossible’ for him to play in that system.
Porro is now playing in a back four under Ange Postecoglou though and Redknapp believes that he has been superb all season long.
“I think Pedro Porro deserves a special mention because this game would have been probably one of the toughest last year, when he played in the 6-1 away from home,” said Redknapp. “He played in a back four and I remember thinking ‘he can’t play in a back four, it’s impossible’ – but he can. He’s not just playing in a back four, he’s coming in as an inverted full back. He is looking like a really good player right now and I didn’t see that. At the time, I felt his performances meant he could only play in a back three because that’s when he signed for Tottenham. That was a big performance for him, not just today but all season and again, the manager deserves a lot of credit for what he’s done with him,” he added.
Porro has been a real attacking force for Tottenham in recent weeks.
The Spaniard has bagged four assists in his last five games, providing real quality when coming infield from his right back spot.
Porro has recorded 15 key passes in the last five games, as well as three shots on target, seven tackles, 14 accurate crosses and five successful dribbles.
Now seemingly settled in the Premier League, Porro is shining under Postecoglou and proving why Fabio Paratici splashed such a huge fee on him.
