Pundit and former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Hertfordshire Mercury, that he thinks Harry Winks and Joshua Onomah may need to go out on loan.
Spurs travelled up to Merseyside on Tuesday night to take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup, and were hoping for a win after three successive draws in all competitions.

However, a much-changed Tottenham side – featuring the likes of Kevin Wimmer, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Tom Carroll – came up short at Anfield, losing 2-1 to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
Daniel Sturridge’s close-range opener got Liverpool going before he added a second by breaking the offside trap to slot past Michel Vorm. Spurs did hit back with a Vincent Janssen penalty, but couldn’t find an equaliser and crashed out of the EFL Cup in the last 16.

Ultimately, manager Mauricio Pochettino decided to use the game to blood some young players, with Harry Winks and Joshua Onomah both getting the chance to impress.
Onomah, 19, and Winks, 20, both started in Tottenham’s midfield, and have been tipped for a huge future having come up through the ranks with their boyhood club at White Hart Lane.
Both youngsters played all 90 minutes against Liverpool, and whilst they will be looking to become the latest young talents to thrive under Pochettino, Jamie Redknapp thinks they should go in another direction this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, as quoted by the Hertfordshire Mercury, Redknapp suggested that with so many midfielders already at Pochettino’s disposal, Winks and Onomah need to go out on loan in order to play first-team football and show their quality elsewhere, possibly in the Championship.
“I look at young Harry Winks, Josh Onomah and they’re good footballers, but they need to play,” explained Redknapp. “If it means going out on loan, they’ve got to go and get some game time because it’s difficult, the pathway is closed at Tottenham, as I’ve said before for midfielders.”
“They need to go and play because they’re good footballers but they need to show it, be it in the Championship so they can showcase their talent,” he added.
