Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, that Harry Kane has talked up the potential of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Carter-Vickers started for Spurs against Liverpool at Anfield last night, and he did not look out of place.

The 18-year-old was unable to stop Spurs from falling to a 2-1 defeat, but Carter-Vickers still did enough to impress.

And Redknapp has revealed that Tottenham’s players and staff all have high hopes over Carter-Vickers’ future at White Hart Lane.

“He’s a really good centre-back,” Redknapp said. “I’ve heard great things about him. They reckon he’s going to be a fantastic centre-back. I’ve talked to Harry Kane, and he’s said that in training he does rough him up a bit.”

Carter-Vickers appears to have won the faith of Mauricio Pochettino this season, as he has regularly featured in match day squads.

The American youngster seems to have moved ahead of Kevin Wimmer in Tottenham’s selection order.

Carter-Vickers is part of an exciting group of youngsters currently breaking through at White Hart Lane, with the likes of Harry Winks and Josh Onomah also being handed starts against Liverpool yesterday.
