Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he believes Steve Cotterill will be beginning to realise how tough a job he has taken on at Birmingham City.

Birmingham appointed Cotterill to replace Redknapp’s Father, Harry, after a poor start to the campaign.

However, Cotterill has been unable to spark the Blues into life.

And Redknapp said: “When Birmingham beat Cardiff in Steve Cotterill’s first game in charge early last month, he must have thought the job would be easy.

“Four games later and they have picked up just one point, failed to score a goal and sit in the bottom three. It just goes to show how difficult that job can be and that he and his players still have plenty of work to do.”

Cotterill is already under pressure at Birmingham, with some of his tactical decisions baffling the St. Andrews crowd.

Birmingham’s latest defeat came against Barnsley, and Cotterill’s side were abject.

Barnsley took the lead in the second minute through Tom Bradshaw, and Birmingham rarely threatened to get back into the contest.

Zeki Fryers eventually added a second for the Tykes, as Birmingham suffered another damaging defeat.

Birmingham are currently sat in 22nd place in the Championship table, leading to concerns that they could be relegated this season.
