Should Everton and Sam Allardyce part company in the summer?

Jamie Redknapp has suggested in The Daily Mail that Everton should find a new manager to replace Sam Allardyce.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has stated that the ex-West Ham United and Newcastle United manager should walk away from Everton at the end of the season.

Redknapp wrote in The Daily Mail: “The objective was to stay up and, now he has kept his side of the bargain, Allardyce should walk away at the end of the season. Once a manager loses the supporters, it is very difficult to get them back onside.”

“The club should already be searching for Allardyce’s successor,” added Redknapp. “Allardyce can leave with his head held high — and there will be plenty of offers for him. At Goodison Park, however, he doesn’t fit the bill.”

Improvement in results

There is no doubt that Everton’s results have improved under Allardyce, who could lead the team to an eight-placed finish in the Premier League this season.

That is remarkable given that when the former Newcastle and Sunderland manager took charge of the Toffees, they were in genuine danger of getting relegated to the Championship.

Playing style

The problem is that Everton’s football under Allardyce has not been very pleasing to the eye, and one can understand the fans’ frustration.

The Goodison Park faithful do want their team to play some good and attractive football, and perhaps that could see the club’s hierarchy make a decision on Allardyce’s future and bring in a new manager in the summer.
