The Newcastle United midfielder looks to be a real player.
Jamie Redknapp raved about the quality of Newcastle ace Sean Longstaff, when speaking during Sky Sports’ live broadcast of today’s match between Tottenham and the Magpies, comparing the youngster to Wallsend-born Premier League legend Michael Carrick.
The 21-year-old has really risen to prominence over the past month or so, and he has really impressed during his five Premier League appearances thus far.
Longstaff’s coolness and composure when in possession of the football has given Newcastle another dimension to their play through the middle of the park, and he really does look like he has a great future ahead of him.
Redknapp offered high words of praise for the Magpies academy graduate, when speaking during Sky Sports’ live broadcast of today’s match between Tottenham and the Newcastle, drawing special attention to the youngster’s ability to use both feet:
“He’s well organised in terms of that he’s got good feet, plays off his left foot, right foot, very comfortable on the ball. He’s playing in big games as well; Chelsea, Man City, and he reminds me a little bit of Michael Carrick – he’s got that nice upwards stance in the way that he plays.”
Newcastle are far from safe from the threat of relegation, so Longstaff will be under pressure to perform on a regular basis.
He seems as though he has more than enough in his locker to cope with that, however, and the Toon army must be delighted to have a young player with so much talent currently displaying his quality at St James’ Park.
