Football pundit Jamie Redknapp says that Manchester City need to sign at least two full-backs this summer, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker could be one of them.
Redknapp is not convinced by Pep Guardiola’s claims that Manchester City are the best team in the Premier League.
Even though Redknapp admits that City have made progress over last season, he points out they still have failed in Europe and didn’t mount a proper title challenge.
The former Liverpool player says that City need to bolster their defence, especially the full-back area, and Walker could be a solution for them.

“Pep Guardiola has claimed Manchester City are the best team in the Premier League… but there has been no dramatic improvement on Manuel Pellegrini’s side of last season,” wrote Redknapp in his column for the Daily Mail.
“City have hardly been in the picture as far as the title has been concerned and failed in Europe. They need two new full backs — Kyle Walker could be one of them — and have looked shaky in defence. Vincent Kompany returning has given them steel but will he stay fit for a whole season?”
Walker has been linked with a move to Manchester City in the recent weeks, with The Telegraph reporting that the Citizens are confident of snapping him up in the summer.
The 26-year-old has emerged as one of England’s top full backs, and has enjoyed a fabulous season under Mauricio Pochettino.
It has been been reported that Spurs will listen to offers for Walker, and would be demanding a transfer fee in excess of £50 million (The Sun) for the right-back.
City are hoping to strike a deal with a huge transfer fee and tempt Walker with a considerable increase to his current wage of £70,000-a-week.
