Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has commented on the future of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere is currently out on loan at Bournemouth, where he has been in good form recently. This afternoon he put in perhaps his best performance since joining the Cherries – against Arsenal’s local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Before the game Redknapp was commenting on the England international’s future. He made his feelings clear that Wilshere should view his future away from Arsenal as the best course for his career.

He told Sky Sports:

“I don’t see his future at Arsenal any more. I think now he’ll realise.

“I think he’s got to get away from Arsenal. It’s too comfortable for him there. He’s not going to get in the team at Arsenal I don’t think regularly. Whereas now, if he makes that move, he can show what he’s about.

“No disrespect I think he’s a step above Bournemouth but it’s a great thing he’s doing, putting himself on the line.”

Wilshere is still believed to be in the long-term plans at Arsenal however the player himself will surely have to consider his future.

Competition at Arsenal is fierce in the midfield area and he also has to consider whether, now back fit, a change of scenery might be the best thing for him.

Bournemouth, ambitious as they are, may not be the location for Wilshere as he will see himself playing at perhaps a higher level.

But for now he should continue enjoying playing his football on the South Coast – before giving his Arsenal situation some real thought in the summer.
