Tottenham striker blamed poor start to the season on the transfer window.

Jamie Redknapp has told The Mail he is not buying Tottenham Hotspur excusing their poor start to the season on the transfer window.

Spurs have won three of seven Premier League games, already way off the pace of leaders Liverpool who have won all seven.

Redknapp’s rebuke was targeting towards Harry Kane, who he says had pointed to the summer as a distraction.

Redknapp said: “I don’t agree with Harry Kane’s assertion after the game that the squad have been distracted by the transfer window. It’s hardly the first window they’ve been through.

“I just think there are a lot of unsettled players at Tottenham at the moment. Perhaps they feel uneasy about contract situations and players perhaps being moved on but there are a lot of players there that don’t look happy.”

Kane and Redknapp may have crossed a few wires, as the Tottenham striker was getting at the same point with his comments.

Kane had told Sky Sports: “Obviously in the transfer window just gone, there were players who maybe wanted to leave, and it was public knowledge that there were players close to leaving who stayed.”

It might seem like splitting hairs, but the point Redknapp is getting at, is that Spurs’ players should be experienced enough to shut out the noise of the transfer window rumours.

Instead the real problem is that it’s more than just rumour, and there seems to be some truth to the claims that players want out.

This has made the dressing room hard to get back it’s positivity and has contributing to the team’s shaky start.

If Spurs can get a win over Bayern Munich this week in the Champions League at home, it may go a long way to fixing the internal discontent.
