Tottenham Hotspur have a real chance of winning a trophy this season, after making it through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Jamie Redknapp highlighted how Tottenham’s failure to win a trophy could lead to the exit of one of their key men, and the subsequent breaking up of their team as a whole, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail.

Spurs have enjoyed a successful campaign thus far, despite their exit from the Champions League at the hands of Juventus.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli of Tottenham Hotspur celebrate after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park on February 25, 2018 in London, England.

Mauricio Pochettino has earned rave reviews for the manner in which he has gone about his business during his time in charge of the Lilywhites, but questions are still being asked as to whether he can guide his side to major honours.

Redknapp, who made 49 appearances for Tottenham, highlighted just how important it will be for his former club to keep hold of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Mauricio Pochettino in the summer, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail:

Mauricio Pochettino manager

“They will be able to open their new stadium by parading a trophy. Pictures of captain Hugo Lloris lifting the Cup can adorn the ground. It will also help Tottenham keep hold of their best players. It would only take the departure of Kane, Alli or even Pochettino for this wonderful side to start breaking up.”

According to the Sun, Kane is a £200 million summer transfer target for Real Madrid, whilst Dele and Pochettino have both been linked with moves to some of Europe’s most elite clubs.

Redknapp is bang on the money with his comments.

Tottenham need to prove that they can match the ambitions of their prized assets, if they are to keep hold of them in the summer, and winning the FA Cup this season would be the best way for them to do just that.
