Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports that Adnan Januzaj must make his mark at Sunderland this season.

The winger has joined the Black Cats on a season long loan deal after Jose Mourinho made it clear he was not in his plans at Manchester United this season.

The move sees him reuniting with David Moyes at the Stadium of Light, with the Scot having handed the Belgian his debut during their time together at United.

He will be keen to get his career back on track under Moyes, having seen it stall during the last two years under Louis Van Gaal.

And Redknapp says he must make a mark in this loan spell after things didn’t work out at Borussia Dortmund.

“(He has) a god given talent that only a few possess. He needs to make a mark now though,” he told Sky Sports.

“He’s got to the stage where he’s been on loan at Dortmund, it didn’t work out. It felt like he was sort of blaming Dortmund, blaming Man Utd, go and play, go and show us what you can do now, this is your opportunity.”

It will certainly be interesting to see if Januzaj can be a success at Sunderland this season.

The Black Cats could certainly do with him replicating the form he showed when he broke through at Old Trafford, with their squad lacking in creative flair at present.

However, he cannot do it all alone and will be hoping that Moyes can make further signings to help flourish.
