Jamie Redknapp has told The Mail he cannot recall a player having a bigger impact on a team than Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk has impressed on a weekly basis this season, helping Liverpool record more than 90 points already.
Only a similarly staggering challenge from Manchester City threatens to deny them the Premier League title.
Van Dijk signed for Liverpool in January 2018, and in his first full season, has won the PFA Player of the Year Award.
Redknapp said: “Some argued that it would take more than one player to sort out Liverpool’s defence.
“Not only has Van Dijk done that but he has completely transformed this team. He is a leader, an organiser and a calming presence rolled into one.
“I cannot think of another player who has had a greater impact on a Premier League team.”
That is some praise from a player who played in the Premier League in the 90s and 2000s, when players like Thierry Henry and Roy Keane set the tone for their respective clubs.
