The Liverpool centre-back has been quite simply brilliant since moving to Anfield.

Jamie Redknapp raved about Liverpool ace Virgil van Dijk, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail, suggesting that the defender has taken Jurgen Klopp’s side to another level over the past 18 months.
The Reds signed the Dutchman from Southampton in January 2018 for somewhere in the region of £75 million, and he has gone on to totally transform the Merseyside outfit defensively, helping turn them into one of the most solid, tightly-knit outfits in world football.
Van Dijk is widely considered to be one of the the very best defenders in the game, and he played an integral role in Liverpool’s club record Premier League points tally of 97 this season.
The Holland international really is a class act, and Jamie Redknapp highlighted just how important he is to Liverpool, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail:

“I cannot remember a player who has transformed a Premier League team more than Virgil van Dijk. This time last season, Van Dijk had only been a Liverpool player for six months and his new side needed to beat Brighton on the final day to confirm a top-four spot. Now they have posted a points total that would have won the title in pretty much every other season. Raheem Sterling is the player who gets me out of my seat the most, but Van Dijk has taken Liverpool to another level.”
Despite falling short in the race for the Premier League title, Liverpool’s season is far from over, with a Champions League final against Tottenham on June 1st to look forward to.
And if the Reds are to beat Spurs, they will need Van Dijk to be at his imperious best.
