Manchester United host Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
Former player and current pundit Jamie Redknapp believes that the upcoming derby between Manchester united and Manchester City will end in a satisying draw, Sky Sports report.
United host City on Saturday in what is being billed as one of the most intruiging derby clashes in years.
Jose Mourinho’s United and Pep Guardiola’s City have both claimed nine points out of a possible nine in the Premier League so far this season, while the two managers have plenty of history during their Barcelona and Real Madrid days.
It’s a game which certainly won’t win either side the title, but it could be a psychological blow to the losers, and on the flip side will no doubt be a huge confidence-boost to the winners.
Previewing the game for Sky Sports, Redknapp said that he expects a close game and a draw – a result which he believes both managers would accept before the game.
“I expect goals, even in the absence of Sergio Aguero, but I don’t think Mourinho will allow it to be wide open,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“I’m really excited about the game. But I think it might take 70 minutes to come to life. It certainly won’t be boring but I am expecting a draw; an outcome that both teams will be comfortable with.
“I think Pep Guardiola would bite your hand off for a point and Mourinho, who has a strong head-to-head record against the big clubs – wouldn’t be too disappointed either.”
United arguably head into the game boasting a better attack, what with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney starting and England Under-21 international hat-trick hero Marcus Rashford backing them up.
City, on the other hand, will be without the suspended Sergio Aguero, and in the Argentine’s absence it will be interesting to see whether Guardiola replaces him with an out-and-out forward.
Both teams look much better already compared to last season, and many Premier League observers will be hoping for a better match than the tepid 0-0 draw played out in the same fixture last season.
