Speaking to Sky Sports, former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has backed the club to beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 this weekend.

The Reds have made a flying start to this campaign and currently sit fourth in the table, just two points from the top of the table.

This week was a disappointing one for them, though, as they played out a frustrating goalless draw against Jose Mourinho at Anfield.

That game saw United sit deep to keep Klopp’s team at bay, something this weekend’s opponents Albion are also likely to do.

While they struggled against their rivals, Redknapp is expecting much better for them against the Baggies.

“It was a poor game and a poor result for Liverpool on Monday night, I really did fancy them to win that one,” he told Sky Sports.

“Liverpool were too easy to play against in that game but I expect them to bounce back against West Brom, I’m going to go for a 2-0 win.”

It remains to be seen if Liverpool can secure a positive result against Tony Pulis’ team this weekend.

They have struggled against teams that sit deep already this year and the Baggies are arguably the best team in the league at employing that tactic.

They will be determined to bounce back from that draw with United, especially given that a win could take them top of the table if other results go their way this weekend.

The Baggies will be keen to continue their own good form though and could move as high as eighth with a surprise win at Anfield.
