Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he doesn’t care about the criticism of Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli.

Redknapp believes that Alli has the potential to become England captain in the future.

And even though the youngster has been accused of having a fiery temperament and a short fuse, Redknapp does not see this as a problem.

“Alli is a player Southgate can build a team around,” Pochettino said. “If he keeps his head right, there is no reason why he cannot captain the national team one day.

“I don’t care what people say about his temperament. I believe the captain should be your best player and Alli is on course to become England’s most important player sooner rather than later.”

Alli’s aggression came to the fore recently, when Tottenham crashed out of the Europa League.

The former MK Dons man was sent off, as Spurs fell to an aggregate defeat against Gent and went out of Europe.

Alli has responded well to this set-back, with his form being very strong in recent weeks.

The youngster has netted two goals in his last two matches, and he was on the scoresheet in Spurs’ most recent 3-2 victory over Everton.

Tottenham are currently in second place in the Premier League table – seven points behind league leaders Chelsea.
