Tottenham Hotspur won 4-1 against Southampton at St. Mary’s yesterday.
Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Southampton, that Victor Wanyama was immense at St. Mary’s.
Wanyama was selected to start alongside Mousa Dembele in Spurs’ midfield, and the powerful midfielder put in an impressive display as Spurs won 4-1 on the south coast.
Wanyama dominated the midfield battle against his former side, and Redknapp claims that although Wanyama did not make any headlines, he still deserves a lot of praise for his showing.

“I think Tottenham did their best work after they got their goal. Dele Alli got man of the match, but Wanyama was immense in midfield,” Redknapp said.
“He showed why they bought him in the summer. The power that he possesses, he’d be a nightmare to play against.”
Tottenham actually fell behind against Southampton, when Virgil Van Dijk opened the scoring early on.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side fought back to take the three points in impressive fashion.
Dele Alli headed Tottenham back on level terms, before Harry Kane headed home a second.
Heung-Min Son then secured the three points with a breakaway goal, before Alli rounded off the triumph late on.
Tottenham are now in fifth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Watford on New Year’s Day.
