Liverpool have suggested that they have ended their interest in Southampton defender Virgil Dijk.
Jamie Redknapp has told Sports Keeda that he does not believe that Liverpool have pulled out of the running for Virgil Van Dijk entirely.
Liverpool issued a statement recently, apologising for their conduct in their attempts to snap up the Southampton centre-back.
The Reds also suggested that their interest in signing the 25-year-old had come to an end.
However, Redknapp is of the belief that Liverpool could yet go back in for Van Dijk.
And the Sky Sports pundit believes that the Dutch international would be a major hit at Anfield.
“I don’t think that one’s necessarily over,” Redknapp said.
“I think they apologised for making an enquiry after it became public.
“If Van Dijk is up for sale and he wants to go to Liverpool, and Liverpool have the money to buy him, the chances are he’ll go there.
“He would be brilliant signing for Liverpool, he’s perfect for what they need.
“He can score goals, he’s a brilliant defender. He’s a tremendous talent.”
Southampton are believed to be asking for a huge fee, if they are to part company with Van Dijk.
The Saints are under no pressure to sell the centre-back, as he is on a long-term contract at St. Mary’s.
Liverpool are known to be looking for defensive additions this summer, as Jurgen Klopp looks to tighten up his backline.
