Tottenham Hotspur have not lived up to expectations so far this season, but there has been one real shining light, according to Jamie Redknapp.

Former Spurs star Jamie Redknapp shared who he believes Tottenham’s player of the season has been so far, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit in fifth position in the Premier League table, after a troublesome six-week spell during the absence of Harry Kane saw them win just one in six, but they have managed to get their season back on track with three wins from their last four league outings.

And Redknapp, who made 49 appearances for the Lilywhites during a two-and-a-half year spell with the club, highlighted one of Pochettino’s summer signings as a star performer for Spurs this season, when writing his column for the Daily Mail:

“Victor Wanyama. This time last year you would not have thought anyone could displace Eric Dier but that’s what this powerhouse has done.”

The Kenyan ball-winning midfielder moved to White Hart Lane from Southampton in June of this year, for a fee believed to be in the region of £11 million, and has since go on to establish himself as a vital member of Pochettino’s first-team squad, starting every single one of Tottenham’s 17 Premier League games thus far.

And if Spurs are to enjoy a successful campaign, Wanyama will need to continue his impressive run of form on into 2017.
