Pundit Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Brendan Rodgers will stay with Celtic for a ‘couple more years’ – despite believing that Arsenal will be interested in his services.

Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title with a 5-0 win over Hearts on Sunday, as Scott Sinclair handed the Bhoys a sixth-straight league title – but this one has been the finest of the lot.

With just four points dropped over the course of the season, Celtic have won the title without being beaten, and will now be hoping to end the season without defeat too.

Whilst Ronny Deila won the title twice during his time in charge of the Bhoys, his replacement Brendan Rodgers has excelled since taking the job, with qualification for the Champions League group stage another bonus from the Northern Irishman.

Rodgers, 44, has been attempting to rebuild his reputation in management following a dismal end to his reign at Liverpool in 2015, and many believe he has now done that with Celtic.

In fact, Rodgers has been mentioned by many as a possible replacement for Arsene Wenger whenever he decides to leave Arsenal, with a Premier League return being touted somewhere down the line.

Now, pundit Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that Rodgers deserves huge credit for his work at Celtic Park, having helped the Bhoys storm to the title in imperious fashion.

Redknapp added that, whilst he thinks that Arsenal will be interested in landing Rodgers as Wenger’s successor, he thinks Rodgers will give Celtic a couple more years of service before returning to English football.

“After what happened at Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers deserves so much credit for the way his Celtic side have stormed to the title in Scotland,” said Redknapp. “I am sure he will be on the radar of clubs like Arsenal but I think he will give Celtic another couple of years before making a return to the Premier League. Whatever he does, Rodgers has earned a great deal of respect,” he added.
