Tottenham Hotspur failed to bring in any new signings this summer.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur should have added more pace to their attack during the summer transfer window.
Spurs opened their Premier League campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory at Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon, with Dele Alli bagging the winner after Joselu had cancelled out Jan Vertonghen’s opener.
Given that Mauricio Pochettino remains without some of his World Cup stars, it was a solid start to the season for Spurs – and a much-needed boost after a dismal transfer window.
Tottenham failed to make any new signings this summer, and became the first Premier League team to bring in no new faces since the inception of the transfer window in 2003.
Pochettino attempted to remain upbeat about a lack of new faces, but inside he must be frustrated, having outlined at the beginning of the summer that he wanted new signings even before the World Cup.
The fear is that Tottenham will slip further behind their rivals at the top of the Premier League table, whilst Liverpool’s huge spending in 2018 means they are now primed to finish above Pochettino’s men this term.
After Saturday’s win over Newcastle, ex-Spurs midfielder and current pundt Jamie Redknapp told the Daily Mail that he was impressed with the battling nature of their win, but feels they will regret not making signings.

Redknapp particularly feels that Spurs are lacking pace in attack and will miss Son Heung-min during his stint at the Asian Games, with players like Lucas Moura desperately needing to step up in his absence.
“Tottenham deserve immense credit for the way they battled to victory at Newcastle but I still feel they may regret not adding to their squad,” said Redknapp. ”As a player I could not wait to see who my clubs would sign. New arrivals added a spark to the dressing room and kept everyone on their toes.”
“I remember thinking when Liverpool signed Paul Stewart in 1992 that I would have to raise my game. Spurs are strong in every position but at St James’ Park I thought they needed more pace going forward — especially with Son Heung-min at the Asian Games for the rest of August,” he added.
